The K. Ullas Kamath Center for Family Managed Businesses is an academic foundation engaged in the prosperity and transformation of small and medium enterprises in India. It is the mission of the K. Ullas Kamath Center to influence the survival and growth of family businesses in India. Studies have shown that a lack of preparedness and inability to adapt to change contribute to a lack of continuity in Family Businesses. Our center will work with micro and small-size family businesses with the aim of providing them with the necessary tool kit to grow in their stature in the years to come. And in doing so,
1. Contribute to the country’s GDP
2. Prevent the collapse of small and micro enterprises
3. Become thought leaders in the SME space.
K. Ullas Kamath, M.Com., LL.B., F.C.A., A.C.S., M.Sc (LSE) was the Joint Managing Director of Jyothy Labs Ltd (JLL). While at JLL for 31 years, he was responsible for business development, new projects, M&A, and financial management. He has been the driving force in transforming JLL from a single-brand family-owned enterprise to a multi-brand FMCG conglomerate. He was also instrumental in the acquisition of Henkel AG's India operations helping Jyothy Labs become a formidable player in the Indian FMCG industry
He also serves as the Chairman of the FICCI Karnataka State Council and a member of the FICCI Start-Up Committee, New Delhi. He is a governing council member of the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), IIT, New Delhi.
For his work and leadership, he has won several awards over the years including the coveted "All India CA Business Achiever Award - SME Category" instituted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He is also the recipient of the CNBC Awaaz Best CEO AWARD in the FMCG Category.
He channels his expertise in building family enterprises as the Program Chair at the K. Ullas Kamath Center for Family Managed Business at NITTE University where generations of family businesses come to learn from stalwarts in the family business arena, and as the founder of UK&Co – a boutique management consulting collective that works on creating value for select family businesses.
